Susannah’s Pilates career began as her professional dance career performing for companies including the Richmond Ballet, Ballet Omaha, and The City Ballet of Los Angeles was ending. Motivated by the desire for a more secure future, Susannah found her first Pilates teaching position by approaching Mari Winsor, the owner of a then small Pilates studio, that was looking to expand.
Susannah’s client roster today is filled with celebrities, Hollywood professionals, international royalty, famous Washington personalities and high profile physicians. They have all in turn entrusted their most prized possession to her, their bodies. A list of names of note are: Willow Bay (CNN reporter and Estee Lauder model), Cheryl Burke (two time champion of Dancing with the Stars), Magda Berlinner (Fashion Designer) Julia Ormond (actress), Sara Raferty (actress), Amanda Foreman (actress), Shana Goldberg-Meehan (writer/executive producer) Sheila Lawrence (writer/executive producer) Tiffany Daniels (executive Warner Bros), Monica Lewinsky (infamous), Martina Sudwikatmono (Indonesian princess), and Dr. Alfred Cohen (Beverly Hills Plastic Surgeon).
Susannah has assisted Mari Winsor, the creator of the worldwide number-one selling Pilates DVD series Winsor Pilates by co-producing the original five videos and starring as the lead talent. Susannah has performed in over twenty Winsor Pilates DVDs to date, as well as the infomercials to promote their sale. She has run rehearsals, produced scripts, and assisted in creating fluid exercise concepts while protecting the integrity of the Pilates method and philosophy. Susannah’s current projects include producing and starring in a commercial and video to promote a new Pilates product, Pilatesstick, to be available soon from Preventative Health Technologies.
In addition to her on-camera work, Susannah has also taught master classes to the Physical Education staff at Santa Monica High School to help better prepare them with integrating Pilates into the school’s curriculum. Susannah has taught Pilates master classes to 24 hr fitness professionals looking to add Pilates classes and equipment to their gyms, and finally has traveled with Mari Winsor as her assistant and demonstrator to promote her Pilates and pregnancy book.
Susannah Cotrone is a second generation, level five certified trainer in Romana’s Pilates. Romana Kyranowska is the “world renowned protégé of Joseph Pilates” and has been teaching his method for over sixty years. Susannah has been teaching Pilates for nearly ten years and has been certified since 2002. She has studied with both Romana Kyranowska and her daughter Sari Mejia Santo and has also benefited from private and group instruction by Michael Fritzke and Ton Voogt, both certified Pilates teacher trainers and co-creators of the triad ball workout. Other instructors of note include Jay Grimes and Lolita San Miguel, both of whom have trained with the man himself, Joseph Pilates. Susannah finds daily inspiration working side by side with some of the greatest trainers in the business at Winsor Pilates studios in West Hollywood, California.
